Ok, we've all heard of nosey nellie, well today I'm newsy nellie. I've been reading some of the headline news and I've got to say, what a mad world we live in.
Tornadoes, floods, and avalanches in California, a 6.4 magnitude quake in Iran, a former valedictorian is charged with plotting to assassinate Bush (gasp!), Winn-Dixie is filing for bankruptcy (oh!, where will we shop when we go to Florida? I like the Winn-Dixie), and Ibrahim al-Jaafari is chosen as the Prime Minister of Iraq. Well at least it wasn't Allawi. Too bad Bush's puppet didn't get chosen.
And here's one that gives new meaning to the phrase, "we want you for a new recruit." The Royal Navy is trying to recruit and retain homosexual sailors (huh!!!). That's right, currently, there are about 2,100 serving in the Royal Air Force and they are trying to encourage men and women to come out so they can eventually have the first openly gay or lesbian admiral. Pretty cool if they can swing it (oh, nice choice of words Paul).
